Raimonds Lapiņš is Director General of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) since 1 February 2024.

Before taking up duties of Director General, Raimonds Lapiņš performed duties of the Deputy State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, leading planning and development of investment aid programmes of the European Union funds, development of the structural policy of the national economy, entrepreneurship and innovation development policies. Simultaneously, he performed duties of the official responsible for the work of the CSB.

Strategic vision, purpose-driven organization of work and ability to make decisions even under circumstances of limited information characterize the strongest features of R. Lapiņš personality. Having gained over 20 years of experience in public administration and promotion of entrepreneurship, strengthening of international cooperation, change management, and financial planning and management.

From 1996 to 1999, R. Lapiņš studied at the University of Latvia in the Professional Bachelor's Program in Business Administration. In 2014, he obtained a Professional Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the Information Systems Management Institute. Since 2021, R. Lapiņš has been pursuing a Master's Degree in Sports Science at the University of Latvia. In 2018, R. Lapiņš furthered his knowledge at the Business School of the Institute of Advanced Management at the University of Navarra, focusing on regional competitiveness and stronger cluster-based economic policies.

Latvian is the native language of R. Lapiņš, complemented by fluency in English and Russian.
