On Wednesday, 29 March (from 10:00 to 15:00 o’clock), Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (CSB) held a seminar informing data users about the results of the survey on quality of life in nine State cities – Daugavpils, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Jūrmala, Liepāja, Ogre, Rēzekne, Valmiera and Ventspils – conducted in 2022 and latest territorial statistics.
The survey is aimed at gathering opinions of the State city residents on various aspects of life in cities, e.g., satisfaction with educational facilities, health care services, urban planning (green and public spaces, sport and cultural facilities). It also helps to find out whether people feel safe in their city and trust in local police, are satisfied with the work of the local public administration, as well as the main modes of transportation used and perception of the public transport. The last survey on the quality of life in cities was conducted in 2017 in the eight cities under State jurisdiction – Daugavpils, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Jūrmala, Liepāja, Rēzekne, Valmiera and Ventspils, thus the results of 2022 are comparable to those produced in 2017.
The seminar also covered comparison of the quality of life in Riga with situation in Vilnius, Tallinn, and other European cities, climate statistics for the regions of Latvia, territorial statistics available on the official statistics portal and other topical issues, and it was moderated by Oskars Priede.
