On 20 October, World Statistics Day Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) signed a very important cooperation agreement with the University of Latvia on the improvement of study process and scientific work accordingly requirements of labour market and improved collaboration opportunities with students.
“In the age of data, development of new partnership forms and reinforcement of the existing ones is included in agenda of each national statistics institution both in Europe, and worldwide. Such kind of partnership is ambition of the CSB cherished for years, and it is natural that this agreement has been signedon such a significant day!” Aija Žīgure, the President of the CSB, notes with satisfaction.
At the ceremonial event in a very small group Aija Žīgure, President of the CSB, and Prof. Indriķis Muižnieks, Rector of the University of Latvia, signed a bilateral cooperation agreement, which will enhance development of statistics sector, quality of studies and research, as well as opportunities for students to acquire practical skills from CSB experts.
“One of brightest brands of the University of Latvia are mathematics and computer science. Research in these areas is developing very rapidly and University can provide significant support in data analysis, research and professional development of personnel of the Central Statistical Bureau. In turn, data and knowledge of the CSB has been a significant support in studies and improvement of data analysis patterns already for decades. This cooperation was developed a long time ago, and the new cooperation agreement lets us look into the future with confidence by developing this cooperation even more,” emphasizes Prof. Indriķis Muižnieks, Rector of the University of Latvia.
